Innovative Solutions: Transforming Administrative Services
Purpose
The President, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Provost have established a competitive development pool that will be made available to units that develop proposals that show progress towards enhanced customer service, streamlined operations, improved efficiencies, cost savings and/or cost avoidance, or promotion of safety/security. Units submitting proposals selected for implementation will be eligible to receive funds to support the proposed improvement. Innovative Solutions seeks to solicit ideas that will enhance working conditions and campus life. Suggestions should address areas such as:
- Reducing inefficiencies and duplication
- Enhancing customer service
- Streamlining administrative procedures and operating processes
Suggestions should include:
- Area(s) to which to solution pertains (e.g. to a specific unit(s) or to the entire university)
- Brief description of the problem to be addressed or the area(s) to be improved
- Detailed description of the solution
- Quantitative analysis of the fiscal or other ongoing benefit to the department, multiple departments and/or the University as a whole
- Contact name, campus address, and campus telephone number
All university units are eligible to participate. Submissions may be made by the unit supporting the proposal. Ideas should be submitted to the Office of the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (campus mail – 0148) or to evp@vt.edu using the application form (PDF).
Review Committee
Submissions will be reviewed by an advisory committee comprised of representatives appointed by the President, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and Provost.
Utilization of Reinvestment Pool
Units submitting proposals selected for implementation will have the opportunity to receive:
- a one-time funding which will be provided directly to the unit implementing the proposed improvement, or
- matching funds to support the proposed improvement.
